Should I take a protein shake before or after I workout?

Within 30 minutes after is the norm it is kind of like adding fuel to an empty car.

First of all, beware of what type of protein shake that you're consuming. Get some research from reputable sources. You can easily get far too much protein in your diet and it can negatively effect your health. How much protein you need depends on what type of workout your doing and how long you're doing it for. For example, if you do more strength training than cardio, you'll need a greater amount of protein. After you find the right protein shake, plan on drinking it after your workout. It does no good before. Protein helps to begin rebuilding your muscles so consume it right after your workout while your muscles will still readily absorb it. I'd say... No.Yeah, smoking does make you lose weight, but I think the cons outweigh the pros. Not only will you smell like cigarettes, yellow your teeth, cause wrinkles and make your nails brittle and yellow, you'll be damaging your lungs and your ability to breathe, which will make exercising harder than it needs to be.I think diet and exercise would be your best bet. Yeah, it's harder to resist sweets and find the time to work out than it is to take a quick smoke break, but in the long run you'll be healthier.
that's how bad smoking is... it makes people loose weight.

Smoking is not the answer to lose your weight. yes, it may help you in losing your weight, but what do you think will happen next? smoking is really dangerous, especially in our health. i think the proper way to lose your weight is to exercise regularly and of course, avoid eating to much!! i hope this helps!!!

Hey I'm 16 and I've been working out a lot now. I do Tae Kwon Do twice a week, lift 2-4 times a week, and run. I've been doing this since around January (kinda a resolution) and haven't been getting a lot of physical improvement. I eat fairly healthy and take in a good amount of protein. I know my brother used protein shakes after he lifted and it helped him a lot to get in necessary protein easily. Does anyone else think this is a good idea for me to do? I have a job and no bills except Tae Kwon Do so money really isn't an issue. Can someone recommend me advice on when to take protein shakes? How much to take? And any good companies or types that people like because I know that not all are the same. I really do want to get stronger (I have gotten stronger but not as much as I wanted) so if I could get some feedback on this that would be great thanks!

You're 16 and it sounds like you're pretty experienced with training, so I think now is a really good time to start with protein supplements. You want to get 1-2 grams of protein for every pound you weigh if you want to add some good, lean muscle mass. I would reccomend drinking a serving of protein shake once in the morning when you wake up with a few eggs, a banana or some blueberries and 1/2 cup of oatmeal, once as a mid-morning snack, two servings immediately after working out, and one serving before bedtime. You want to incorporate more protein in your diet as well in order to get the reccommended 1-2 grams... eat 8 oz. of chicken or turkey at lunch and dinner every day. Other high protein foods include peanuts, peanut butter, tuna, and soy.

for instance i do top and middle on monday and then do bottom on thursday?

Any pushing exercise which most chest movements are will involve alot tricep exercises and they will be over worked with you idea. I do 2 presses and 2 fly movements. All switching between bar, cable and dumb bells. Yes, sometimes even machines. Get big and good luck!

For what purposes? U are already fit, u can try doing weight-lifting to get more muscles, but if u wanna run on the tread mill, its perfectly fine, cuz u will only get fitter, so no harm done

Should I really be embarrassed?
Summer's coming up, as you all know. I'm thinking about bathing suits and about what I'll wear. Me and my friend were walking to a movie the other day and we were talking about this. I said how I always felt fat in a two piece. She said that there are people worse and that I shouldn't be embarrassed about it. But I can't help it, I always feel like I'm the largest girl there. I know I shouldn't but I can't help but do so. And so you know, I'm about 5'7" and I weigh around 130 pounds. I always feel embarrassed. Should I be embarrassed? If not, Is there anything I can do to help from NOT feeling this way. I love swimming, but I don't love feeling like the odd one out.

Don't look to TV and movies and hollywood and models to decide what you should look like. Those women are not healthy. Be a normal human being. Men don't like girls who are sickly skinny.Have fun this summer and don't worry about your weight.

I'm 5'8" and 160 lbs. I still wear a bikini. It doesn't matter how much you weigh, its how you carry it (it would be nice if I could get a spray tan or something, though). Tyra Banks was talking about how she's like 150 now. I bet she still looks great in a bikini!

i have the very same problem! i have not been swimming for 2 years now but i love it! i cant stand to think being at looking a me wobble but this year im going to Spain and i have decided i am going to swim,and i have decided i don't care what people think of me as long as your happy then it don't matter what people think of you!
